Keanu Reeves has often been the critic’s whipping boy. With gleeful scorn regularly poured over him by his detractors, Reeves has had the last laugh due to his longevity. His string of successful films are a testament to his enduring popularity. ‘John Wick 3’ sees the cool one return for another serving of action mayhem. Reeves has always known he isn’t the greatest actor around but his latest shows how his energetic ways have always been a fan favourite.

Former hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run. With a multi-million dollar contract on his life attracting the world’s top assassins, Wick has his work cut out staying alive. Aided by mysterious assassin Sofia (Halle Berry), Wick attempts to stay ahead of the looming pack. With crime-lords such as Bowering King (Laurence Fishburne) on his tail, Wick grabs any arsenal he can in order to escape death’s door.

‘John Wick 3’ is an often exciting action yarn in the best tradition. There isn’t anything deep and meaningful here, just furious stunts and fast action sequences. Reeves equips himself well as a man determined to face his foes head on by any means possible. His acting range is little stretched but his physical manoeuvres are impressive. He conveys his character’s inner strength well with his co-stars having an equally grand time.

The action is the true star of ‘John Wick 3’ and it doesn’t disappoint. Every bloody fight successfully highlights the brutal world in which Wick thrives. The script’s quieter moments manage to extend the series’ mythology with the world of the assassin’s honour and abilities effectively highlighted. The pacing can occasionally be slow but you get your money’s worth as the posters promise.

Those continually damning Reeves will most likely not have their mind changed with ‘John Wick 3’. For others it’s further proof of his skills in delivering high-velocity goods. ‘John Wick’ seems like a never-ending franchise with the promise of more to come sure to please hard-core action junkies.
